Buying a bus and paying the new license
I bought a bus from a dealership, when the dealership took ownership and registered the bus under deal-stock the bus had a new license.
I bought the bus 2 months later so the license is still valid for 10 months.
If i register the bus do I have to pay for a new 12 month license or will they give me a discount on the 6 months that are remaining?
The annual license fee for the bus is R42.000

If you take ownership of the bus and the license if valid for 10 months, you will pay the pro-rate of 12 months. This means you will pay for 2 months or maybe 3 depending on the exact date.
When ever the registration of a vehicle is done with the change of ownership, the new owner has to pay the license upfront for 12 months, you will always leave the traffic department with a fresh 12 month disk. If there is still time on the current disk, they deduct that from the price you pay.
